SUBLIMATION PRINTING EXPLAINED
Sublimation printing has become a popular technique for creating high-quality, full-color designs on apparel. Unlike traditional screen printing, which involves printing each color layer separately, sublimation uses heat to transfer the design directly onto the fabric. This allows for more vibrant colors and a wider range of design possibilities.
The sublimation process involves printing the design onto a special transfer paper using dye-based ink. The paper is then placed onto the garment and heat is applied, causing the ink to vaporize and bond with the fabric fibers. This results in a permanent, full-color print that won't crack, fade, or peel.
Sublimation printing also produces long-lasting results. The inks used in this process are specially formulated to be more durable than traditional ink, making them more resistant to fading, peeling, and cracking. This makes sublimation printed items an excellent choice for products that will be used frequently or washed frequently.
Another benefit of sublimation printing is that it's eco-friendly. Unlike traditional screen printing, which can produce a significant amount of waste and requires the use of harsh chemicals, sublimation printing produces little to no waste and uses eco-friendly inks. This makes sublimation printing a great choice for environmentally-conscious brands and customers.
One of the major advantages of sublimation printing is that it allows for all-over designs, which can be especially striking on apparel such as hoodies and t-shirts. The printing process is also environmentally friendly, as it produces less waste than traditional screen printing.
It's worth noting that not all fabrics are suitable for sublimation printing, as the process requires a high polyester content in the fabric. However, many apparel manufacturers now offer specialized polyester blends that are specifically designed for sublimation printing.
At Ravebound, we use sublimation printing to create our unique all-over designs on apparel such as our snug hoodies and fanny packs. By using this technique, we're able to ensure that our designs are vibrant, long-lasting, and eco-friendly!
